Sugar

Straight A's = sugar at our place.

Krispy Kreme has a great program for kids. For each A a kid gets, they get a free donut (up to 6 each). We ended up with a dozen. Bailee got seven A's and Bostyn got six A's and one B! Way to go girls!!

Thanks to my friend Holly for telling me about this!

Jake and Hayden had never been into a Krispy Kreme store, so instead of doing the drive through, we decided to make a field trip into the store.

I'm not sure who enjoyed themselves more, Jake or Hayden?

Gotta love free donuts!

3 Little Birds

Look what I found in my mailbox today!

I love checking the mail as it is, but when I find something like this in there it absolutely makes my day!

Last week I won a giveaway on A To Zebra Celebrations. I won a few items, but this is the first thing to arrive.

My gorgeous necklace is from 3 Little Birds. Her pieces are amazing! I am in love with this necklace. I'm never taking it off! I chose a crown with my birthstone and it also has a tag with my initial on it.

Run over and check out her shop, she has tons of amazing jewelry!

Thanks again Kristen!

A Plus

Bailee got straight A's again! Two quarters in a row now. We are super proud of her. Her school makes a big deal out of getting on the honor roll (which I LOVE) and they make an even bigger fuss out of the kids that get straight A's. Only 33 7th graders made the straight A list.

Bailee with some of the other straight-A honorees

Bailee and her BFF Anelia (also on the straight A list)

Bailee and the principal Mrs. Boucher

It was Hippie Day at Bailee's school that day, hence the crazy hair and tie dyed shirts!

Congratulations Bai!
We are super proud of you! Keep up the awesome work!

Love...continued

Happy Valentine's Day...again!

We celebrated Valentine's Day as a family. I cooked our favorite meal with all the trimmings.

Pot roast, potatoes & carrots, gravy, and homemade rolls.

This was our dessert. Red velvet cupcakes with heart cut-outs and homemade cream cheese frosting. TONS of work, but don't they look awesome?! Found the idea here.

Instead of a giving Jake a corny red box of chocolates from the store, I made him a corny blue one from a cereal box. Also TONS of work. Inspired by this idea.

The girls each gave daddy a hand-painted frame and I took pictures of them to go inside. Jake gave me the jewelry box and some beautiful flowers.

Jake gave the girls each a bucket with some coupons for a date night, dinner out, ice cream and an activity date. The girls were so excited and were asking a million questions about the coupons. The main question being, "How soon can we use these?"

And all Hayden got was this shirt. He was thrilled...can't you tell?

The weathermen have been teasing us with reports of spring-like temperatures this weekend. Maybe my blog will go back to being family activity based and less artsy craftsy? I'm sure hoping so!

LOVE

Happy Valentine's Day!

While I am not a fan of forced expressions of love, I do enjoy showing my friends and family how much I love and care about them. I tell myself every year that I am NOT going to go all out.... then somehow in the excitement of everything, I forget all about my little pep talk. This year is no exception.

These are valentines that the kids sent to their grandparents...I hope they have all gotten them by now....or else I just blew the surprise!

For Bostyn's class party, we made each kid an Ipod. I was inspired by these. They had their party on Friday and Bossy got a ton of compliments. Everyone thought these were just the coolest! We bagged each Ipod up and attached a little sticker that said, "YOU ROCK! Happy Valentine's Day!"

Bailee only had a handful of friends that she decided to give treats to, so we went a little more labor intensive. We decided to do marshmallow pops!

These are super delicious. We dipped jumbo marshmallows in red and pink candy melts. Then we dipped some more in chocolate. Then we dipped some MORE in caramel. THEN we rolled them in toffee, sprinkles, rice krispies and graham crackers.

The winning pops were dipped in caramel, then chocolate, then rolled in a mix of rice krispies AND toffee. I am drooling right now just thinking about them. It's ok to eat these for lunch right? With a glass of milk of course.

We put a few pops in a little bucket filled with kisses.

All bagged up and ready to go!

For Bailee's best friend, I made her an owl necklace and made a cute little box to put it in. This super cute box used to be a matchbox!

Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends and family! I hope you have a wonderful day and have plenty of sweet treats!

Check back tomorrow for one more Valentine's Day post! I'll show you what I have in store for Jake and the kids!

Hider

We all have our own feelings about winter time.

Some of us love it.....

Some of us hate it.....

And some of us simply hide from it....

I'm a hider. Here's what I do with all my inside time....

Individual Chalk Boards

B's to decorate the girls' doors...music notes for Bailee....purple words for Bostyn

Magnetic Menu Board

Felt Wreath

Fondant Cake

As much as I love my projects, I am more than ready for spring. I miss hiking, biking, and playtime at the park. I sure hope that ground hog is right! Bring on spring!
