Thankful

I am very thankful today. At 7:00 this morning, Jake's company announced layoffs. By 9:00 he had watched several dozen of his/our friends and co-workers leave with boxes and tears. Most everyone knows that I used to work at the same company. So, every time so one else received the bad news, Jake would text me their name. Several of my very good friends were laid off after years of service. It was devastating. Jake wasn't affected by this round of layoffs. We are very grateful. It is very sobering to watch your friends pack up their desks and walk to their cars, knowing they won't be back tomorrow.
